It’s not a one-size-fits-all approach. How Synergy is used depends on the setup, the conditions, and what you’re trying to achieve. Below are some examples.

USE CASE 1 - NO WATER ACCESS

Some arenas don’t have a practical way to water at all. In those situations, Synergy is typically applied at a full rate to get the most out of it—keeping dust completely under control and making the surface as consistent as possible without relying on moisture.

USE CASE 2 - LIMITED OR INEFFICIENT WATERING

In other cases, there is some ability to water—but it’s not very efficient or consistent. Here, Synergy is often used to reduce how much watering is needed and keep the dust down during the time in between. You might still use water to fine-tune the surface, but the Synergy helps keep things settled and prevents dust from coming back as quickly.

USE CASE 3 - SUPPLEMENTING AN ALREADY FUNCTIONAL ARENA

Some outdoor arenas get enough rainfall for a lot of the year, but still get dusty during dry periods. In those cases, Synergy is used more as a supplement—helping bridge the gap between watering or rainfall so the surface stays more consistent and easier to manage.

How Long Does TruTex Synergy Last?

Synergy is designed for long-term dust control, but how long it lasts depends on how the arena is used.

It doesn’t wear out in the way most people expect. What changes over time is the footing itself.

As the surface breaks down through use, new fine particles are created—and those particles weren’t part of the original application.

That’s why a light refresh is recommended over time—not starting from scratch, just supplementing and maintaining what’s already there.

For most arenas, that typically falls somewhere in the 18–36 month range depending on use.

Key Factors That Affect Longevity:

    • Traffic Levels – higher use means faster breakdown
    • Footing Type – more durable sands tend to get longer lasting results
    • Maintenance Habits – proper grooming and depth help extend results
    • Weather Exposure – harsher conditions can increase wear
    • Manure Removal – manure breaks down over time and contributes to dust if it’s left in the arena

💡 Synergy doesn’t expire—the primary reason for retreatment is to coat new fine particles that develop as your sand gradually wears down over time. Most of the original treatment remains; topping up simply maintains consistent dust control.
